Welcome to Danebury!
Welcome back to Year 3! What an exciting time we have had already! Most of you will be coming back to school after quite a long break and we can already see that you are ready to work hard and look after everyone in your class.
Some things will have changed a little and this is to keep us all safe.
You only need to bring in your coat, your lunch and your book bag. You should come to school in your PE kit every Wednesday. We will help you to keep your hands clean throughout the day. We will eat snack and lunch in our classrooms and have our own area of the playground when we go outside.
We are looking forward to an exciting term of learning…
In our English and guided reading lessons we will be exploring Stone Age Boy and Mammoth Pie. We will be writing diaries, letters and descriptions linked to the Stone Age. We will have daily phonics lessons to continue learning our sounds for reading and writing.
As mathematicians we will learn to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes and continue to develop or place value (number ordering, tens and ones) knowledge by progressing onto three digit numbers. We will become more secure with addition and subtraction, learning new methods to help us work out larger calculations.
In our PSHE (circle time) lessons we will use the Jigsaw characters to explore how we feel about settling into a new year group and how to cope with challenges. Like our school value of endurance, we know we will keep trying even when something is tricky!
As scientists this term we will be learning all about light. We will learn about sources of light as well as reflection and shadows.
In RE, we are focusing on Hinduism. We will be learning all about the festival of Diwali and look at the story of Rama and Sita in detail.
During our computing time this term we will be learn about how to stay safe online and what the World Wide Web is. We will use office software to make an e-safety poster.
We are so pleased to see you back in school and we look forward to giving out lots of Dojo points when we see you working hard and showing compassion!
